The National Hockey League (NHL) consists of teams from both the US and Canada which are grouped into the Eastern and Western Conferences depending on the location of their home ground. Currently, the league is made up of 31 teams with 24 from the United States and the remaining 7 slots filled by teams from Canada. Tampa Bay Lightning
Tampa Bay Lightning is one of the famous professional ice hockey teams in the NHL. The team is based in Tampa, Florida and plays in the Atlantic division of the Eastern Conference with the Amalie Arena serving as their home ground. The team won its maiden Stanley Cup back in the 2003-04 season.
The lights played their first league game on October 1992 where they shocked visitors Chicago Blackhawks by beating them 7-3 in front of their home fans. In the current season, The Lights have already qualified for the playoffs after Montreal Canadiens lost 8-2 to Anaheim Ducks in a match that would have left the race to the playoffs wide open.
Calgary Flames
The Flames are a professional ice hockey team playing in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the NHL. The team is based in Alberta and is one of the two hockey franchises from Alberta. It plays its home games at the Scotiabank Saddledome arena. The team has won one championship trophy, two President’s trophies, and five divisional championships.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins are a professional ice hockey team laying in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team is the third-oldest team in the NHL and the oldest in the United States having been founded in 1924. They have won six Stanley Cups and are considered one of the most prolific teams in the NHL.
